Air New Zealand's looking to get a fully-electric plane in the skies within the next two years or so

It's been announced cargo-only flights will start in 2026 - between Wellington and Blenheim, in a bid to de-carbonise aviation.

The plane will live at Wellington Airport, as Marlborough Airport looks to install chargers to power it up for the return trip.

Air NZ Chief Sustainability Officer, Kiri Hannifin, says this'll lead the way for larger lower-emissions planes on domestic journeys, by 2030.
