The Finance Minister has ruled out an austerity Budget

The Finance Minister has ruled out an austerity Budget

Nicola Willis has set the mood ahead of this month's reveal, speaking this morning to the Hutt Valley Business Chamber.

She says now's not the time for the Government to sweep up more of people's incomes - so New Zealanders shouldn't expect a big spend.

But she says it's also not time for austerity - because it would be devastating to give up on tax relief or drastically cut back public services.

The Greens' Chloe Swarbrick says people can expect tax cuts in the form of crumbs - except those who make a living from renting out homes.
