Retiring Labour MP Kelvin Davis has drawn attention to his party's good relations with Maori

Retiring Labour MP Kelvin Davis has drawn attention to his party's good relations with Maori

He's at Ratana with Caucus colleagues today, where political leaders will address the festivities.

The Maori King organised a hui last weekend, reacting to new Government policies affecting Maori.

Davis says it's important all parties are up front about their intentions.

He says Labour did a lot of work in the past six years to improve the relationship between Maori and the Crown.

He says the lack of protest was significant.
