Food Safety is investigating a shopper's complaint of finding a rat's foot in garlic bread her toddler was eating

Shannon Bellman says her son, who has a weakened immune system - had an upset stomach after the close call.

It was bought from Te Awamutu Pak'nSave - and Foodstuffs is recalling the product from all stores.

Food Safety Deputy Director General, Vincent Arbuckle, told TV3 they're working closely with the supermarket and its suppliers.

He says they're a large and well-established business and he's pretty confident it knows what it's doing, but they'll follow their food control plan.
