An ill-disciplined Liverpool have been stunned 2-nil by Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, with major ramifications for their Premier League title hopes

An ill-disciplined Liverpool have been stunned 2-nil by Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, with major ramifications for their Premier League title hopes

The Reds have been unable to capitalise on 77% possession, making 13 fouls and picking up three yellow cards.

They remain three points adrift of league leaders Arsenal and only one up on Manchester City, who have two games in hand and visit Brighton tomorrow.

Centre-back Virgil Van Dijk says they need to take a look in the mirror.

Everton have moved eight points clear of the drop-zone.

Meanwhile Manchester United have downed Sheffield 4-2, Crystal Palace have beaten Newcastle 2-nil and Bournemouth have edged Wolves 1-nil.
