Stricter security in force at Wellington Hospital, following a shooting yesterday, during rush hour

A person was threatened with a machete during a fight at a motel opposite the hospital, in Newtown, just after 5pm.

The person then got into a car with an associate, drove the wrong way down the road, and shot at the person who'd threatened them - who was in a Ford Ranger.

Both parties then drove off - with those involved yet to be found by Police - though it's believed the people knew each other.

Police want witnesses to come forward and say there is NO immediate threat to the public.
