Police are searching for the driver of a truck which crashed while transporting a house in the Far North

The house fell off because of the crash and blocked part of Orakau Rd, south of Kaikohe, for several hours on Tuesday.

The two or three bedroom home suffered extensive damage after it appeared to hit a number of trees before coming off the trailer.

A police spokesperson says they attended the crash on Tuesday morning and the driver wasn't at the scene.

It is unclear if the truck was stolen.
