Two Akaroa King Salmon products are being recalled - with fears they could contain Listeria

The recall covers 100 gram packs of Manuka Cold Smoked Slices and 500 gram packs of Manuka Cold Smoked Trim - with a December 29 use-by date.

NZ Food Safety says the bacteria causes serious illness, especially for vulnerable groups like pregnant women.

They're sold at South Island stores, including Akaroa Salmon's Wigram Factory Shop and Beckenham Butchery in Christchurch, and at Taste Nature in Dunedin.

They should be returned or thrown out.
