It looks like a rock-under-the-beach-towel summer ahead for New Zealand's best rowers

It looks like a rock-under-the-beach-towel summer ahead for New Zealand's best rowers

The Kiwis added two medals to their world championship tally in Bulgaria overnight.

The defending world champion women's and men's double scullers returned silver and bronze medals respectively, to add to the women's pair silver on Saturday.

Robbie Manson finished fifth in the single sculls.

The last time New Zealand finished with less than four medals was 2003, and the last time they failed to win a gold was in 2001.

Double sculling crew member Olivia Loe says they did everything they could and had a great preparation.

She says winners Lithuania had an epic race and took it from the start.

Rowing New Zealand have been approached to summarise the campaign.

The sport was earmarked for $5.1 million in taxpayer funding this year.
