Mental Health Commissioner Kevin Allan has found the psychiatrist and a nurse who helped facilitate the sale, didn't maintain professional boundaries.
The patient was facing a marriage break down and the possible sale of his home - and was recorded as a possible suicide risk - when admitted to hospital .
The man and his ex-wife later sold their house to the psychiatrist, with the nurse in frequent contact during the purchase.
Commissioner Allan has advised both the Medical Council and the Nursing Council of the matter.
