The 49er Olympic champions finished third at the Oceania Championships, with fellow kiwi pair Isaac McHardie and William McKenzie fifth and Logan Beck and Oscar Gunn inside the top 30.
A total of 12 New Zealand crews competed in the 49er class.
Tuke says in the lead up to the London and Rio Olympics they only had one other kiwi boat challenging them.
Blair Tuke and Peter Burling will be gunning for their fifth world title.
