55-year-old Yat Ming Lau was jailed after he was linked to a drug importation scheme in 2013.
NZ Herald reporter Sam Hurley says police have only just been able to get their hands on more than two-million-dollars of his assets.
That includes the profits from the sales of properties in Remuera and Orakei - as well as a BMW M5 with a six figure sum.
He says it's part the overall police campaign to seize half-a-billion-dollars worth of cash and assets by 2021 though the Criminal Proceeds Recovery Act.
