A police standoff in Tauranga has finished after more than 13 hours
9 January 2020
Around twenty to four yesterday afternoon, Police attempted to stop a vehicle on Te Awanui Drive.
But the sole occupant fled on foot to the Tauranga Bridge Marina, making his way to a moored boat.
Police allege the man was making threats, so they called in the Armed Offenders Squad and Police Negotiation Team, who were all there overnight until the 34-year-old man safely exited the boat just before 5 o'clock this morning.
He's due to appear in court next week.
