Labour is supporting harsher penalties for attacks on first responders

A female paramedic was kicked unconscious by an intruder in an attack at Warkworth's ambulance station in Northland on Sunday.
New Zealand First is putting forward a Bill proposing six months' jail sentences for attacking a first responder.
Labour MP Michael Wood says the current situation is 'absolutely unacceptable'.
He says the thousands of first responders shouldn't have to accept verbal or physical abuse when they are trying to help people.
