No relief for the upper North Island as extreme dry weather continues

High temperatures and a lack of rain have persisted through the past two months - with eastern parts of Northland and Auckland already in meteorological drought.
NIWA's three-month prediction shows above normal rainfall ... is the least likely outcome.
Forecaster Nava Fedaeff says the only wildcard could be a tropical cyclone.
She says there is a chance of tropical disturbance bringing a lot of rain at once, which could cause flooding.
