Westpac will be compensating around 19-thousand customers after a credit card blunder

In an agreement with the Commerce Commission, it will be making a total of 3.7 million dollars worth of payments.
Those affected are new credit card customers who received their card, without receiving a welcome letter containing disclosure information between May 2017 and March 2018.
Massey University Professor of Banking David Tripe says an error like this isn't common but can occur in big banks from time to time.
He says all they can do is own up to the error and fix it.
