Support for Northland farmers and growers will be available from tomorrow to help them through the current drought

It was recently classified as a medium-scale adverse event by the Minister of Agriculture.
The support will be in the form of Rural Assistance Payments.
Social Development Minister Carmel Sepuloni says the Government recognises droughts can be slow to recover from, even with some rainfall.
She urges those struggling to contact Work and Income to see what support they might be eligible for.
The Government is also assessing whether the payments will be needed in drought-stricken Auckland and Waikato.
