Police have hit back at complaints about the Eagle helicopter flying low in the sky over Christchurch
4 March 2020
Residents complained the new police helicopter was unreasonably noisy last night - and circling Burwood and Shirley at low altitude.
A police spokesperson says they know the noise can be unsettling - but whenever the Eagle is deployed, it's responding to a job.
She says last night the chopper was monitoring a stolen car in the Mairehau area - resulting in the arrest of a 42-year-old woman for weapon and drug charges.
They also searched for a group of four people carrying a gun - who were reportedly looking into windows in Shirley.
