An Australian man who arrived in New Zealand after being tested for the virus flew to Wellington on Saturday, staying at the QT Wellington Hotel on Cable Street.
His diagnosis was confirmed after arriving, and the Ministry of Health removed him from the hotel on Sunday.
Event Hotels operations manager Simon White says no staff had contact with the man, but one staff member had a brief interaction with his wife at check-in.
That staff member's now at home in self-isolation, while the man's room remains double locked until the hotel receives cleaning protocol advice from the Government.
