Grace Millane's killer is appealing his murder conviction and sentence
18 March 2020
The 28-year-old was sentenced last month to life in prison with a non-parole period of 17 years.
He was found guilty in November of strangling the British backpacker in his Auckland apartment, on the eve of her 22nd birthday in December 2018.
His lawyer, Ian Brookie, has told the Herald Rachael Reed QC will advocate for the man at the appeal stage.
He says sometimes, it's helpful for another lawyer to review afresh the trial and sentence process for an appeal.
A date is yet to be set for an appeal hearing.
