Banks are seeing a loan guarantee scheme for businesses affected by Covid-19 as a starting point

The Government and banks will implement a 6.25 billion dollar Business Finance Guarantee Scheme for small and medium-sized companies.
The Government will carry 80 percent of the credit risk, with the other 20 percent to be carried by the banks.
Kiwibank chief executive, Steve Jurkovich, says this might not be the final shape of what we need to do, but getting started is the most important thing.
