Residents in Tauranga and Mount Maunganui hoping to get a bit of exercise by walking up Mount Maunganui during the lockdown are out of luck

All tracks have been closed due to the volume of users, the narrowness of some tracks, and no way to effectively manage safe physical distances or trace users

The council says there's no shortage of places for people to exercise and get some fresh air.

Besides over 20km of coastline, Tauranga also has several parks, fields, walk and cycleways.
