The 29-year-old has pleaded guilty to 51 charges of murder, 40 of attempted murder and one charge of engaging in a terrorist act
Christchurch doctor Sue Bagshaw says victims, their families and members of the public were dreading a trial - which would bring up trauma
She says the plea is a huge relief that the whole tragedy won't have to be revisited in a court room.
A sentencing date will be set - once coronavirus-imposed court restrictions are eased.
