British food sales have soared 20.6 per cent year-on-year in the four weeks to March 22, as shoppers stocked up before the coronavirus lockdown

New industry data shows it was the biggest month on record for grocery sales in the UK.
Kantar Market Research says the growth was driven by people shopping more frequently and buying slightly more than usual.
The average household spending increased by almost 63 pounds over the nine weeks.
