The New Zealand Blood Service hopes a plasma treatment will help Covid-19 patients recover

It's asking recovered patients to donate their convalescent plasma, because it contains antibodies that can help others fight off the same infection.
Transfusion medical specialist Dr Richard Charlewood says convalescent plasma has been used to treat previous diseases such as SARS which is similar to Covid-19.
It has also recently been used for during the ebola and influenza outbreaks.
