Sam Cane could have played for the Chiefs to open Super Rugby Aotearoa this weekend, but coach Warren Gatland has decided not to risk the All Blacks captain

Cane was ruled out earlier in the week with a back strain, although Gatland says he was fit and available for selection to play the Highlanders in Dunedin.
Gatland says it's about managing risk.
Kaleb Trask has been given the nod at 10, after Aaron Cruden started the training block with a calf niggle.
Cruden will come off the bench.
