Mastercard says consumers are leaning toward contactless payments for cleaner and touch free options.
But Next Payment says cash is still very much in demand - their research reveals 95 percent of consumers want to keep the right to pay with cash.
Next Payment general manager Wilbo Bosma says after the Covid-19 lockdown, cash at all ATM's across the country is stored and sanitised before being dispensed.
He says the Reserve Bank is focused on providing a high quality, clean note to the New Zealand public.
