The Mystics trailed by three goals midway through the final period, before grabbing the decisive go-ahead goal with four and a half minutes to play.
Mystics coach Helene Wilson says they rely on their defence to give them an extra burst of energy to support the attacking end.
The win is the Mystics' fifth, while the Stars have suffered a fourth loss.
