James Solvander has pleaded guilty in the Christchurch District Court today to drug-driving causing death and causing injury.
In early April - Solvander's van hit 48-year-old Clint Hoeben and his 14-year-old daughter as they rode their bikes near Fernside.
Hoeben was killed, and his daughter suffered minor injuries.
North Canterbury Kennel Association says Hoeben's passion was his staffies - but nothing in life surpassed his love for his wife and two children.
