High praise for the use of genome testing on Covid-19 patients

It has successfully linked a new case who worked at a managed isolation facility in Auckland to a returnee.
From now, all cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand will be genome-sequenced.
Auckland University computational biology expert, David Welch , says the process wasn't used much during our first outbreak.
He says it's good to see sequencing occurring rapidly - in this case within two days - as it's an important tool in our fight against the pandemic.
