Liam Strickland was fleeing police in a stolen van when he struck and killed Dean Amies in August last year
He was arrested after a nine day manhunt.
The 22-year-old has appeared at the High Court in Christchurch for sentencing.
The victim's sister Carly Amies told the court she's never seen any remorse.
She called Strickland a coward from the dock - and asked why he didn't stop.
