A reminder to motorists - the Auckland Harbour Bridge will close in one direction overnight

From 9pm all southbound lanes will be closed while the damaged bridge is repaired.

A new 22.7 metre strut is set to be installed on the bridge - dependent on weather conditions.

It comes after a freak gust of wind slammed a truck into the old strut just over a fortnight ago - resulting in ongoing delays with some lanes still closed.

Only two northbound lanes over the bridge will remain open while work is completed.

Motorists are being advised to use the Western Ring Route as an alternative, but congestion is expected.
