A test of Canterbury's youth
A test of Canterbury's youth
8 October 2020
The province has named six players from last year's championship-winning under-19 side for tomorrow's Mitre 10 Cup match with Manawatu in Palmerston North.
Tamaiti Williams gets his first start at tighthead prop with Finlay Brewis at loosehead and Blues signing Sam Darry at lock.
Last year's player of the tournament Fletcher Newell is a reserve prop, while Isaiah Punivai and Chay Fihaki are the wings.
Co-coach Reuben Thorne says they all need game time at the next level.
It's the first time the Punivai brothers have started together for Canterbury, with Ngatungane at centre.
