    Premier League football clubs will break their silence when they meet this week over the proposals for changes to the structure of England's top flight


    Speculation's mounted over a possible 'civil war' within the game.

    The likes of Liverpool and Manchester United are backing a plan which would give more power to the big clubs, reduce the league from 20 clubs to 18 and scrap the League Cup and Community Shield.

    The plan would see nine Premier League clubs given special voting rights on certain issues, based on their extended runs in the competition.

    Proponents also want a 250 million pound package to mitigate the impact of Covid-19.
