The latest community cases include a Defence Force serviceperson working at the Jet Park quarantine facility in Auckland, who tested positive on Friday.
Last week, they met a Defence Force civilian worker in Auckland, who then flew to Wellington on Thursday, then tested positive over the weekend.
Director General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield says genome sequencing shows a direct link to recent returnees in quarantine.
He says it confirms the person's infection has arisen over the course of their work in the facility -- rather than more widely in the community.
There are four new cases of covid 19 in New Zealand today -- and no new cases in the community.
