The AUT student, who works at a clothing store in Central Auckland, tested positive this morning after becoming symptomatic on Monday.
Director General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield says the person lives alone and appears to have had limited community outings.
He says they haven't visited a supermarket during the period they may have been infectious -- and they haven't been to any lectures or classes since mid October.
Ashley Bloomfield says health officials are working urgently to work out how the person was infected.
