An environment group is asking motorists to be conscious of where they drive on beaches

The Auckland Conservation Board is urging visitors to Auckland's most popular beaches to avoid driving over sand dune areas this summer.
Conservation board chair Lyn Mayes says vehicles will disturb fragile plant and birdlife.
She says people need to be mindful that dunes are home to special species, even when they can't always be seen.
