Rivers are continuing to rise in parts of North Otago this afternoon

Up to hundred millimetres of rain could continue to pelt the district this evening, with plenty of roads experiencing surface level flooding.
Waitaki District Mayor Gary Kircher has a special message for motorists in the region.
He says people should only be going out if they have to.
However if they must, it's paramount they drive to the conditions.
Kircher says the Maerewhenua river at Duntroon has burst its banks and flooded the local domain.
