13 January 2021
The 31 year old man has been charged with intentional damage, possession of an axe in a public place, and resisting arrest.
The man appeared in a secure basement courtroom with no public or media access.
Such a location is rarely used, but Judge Bill Hastings felt it necessary.
The man has been remanded to a secure facility and will reappear at Wellington District Court on January 28.
