    Ongoing uncertainty for the Mackenzie District - hard hit by international tourist restrictions in 2020


    District tourism development manager Lydia Stoddart says the region hasn't had the lift from domestic visitors seen in places like Stewart Island and Hanmer Springs.

    She says operators in the district have made investments based on numbers for international travellers.

    Stoddart says the district will need strong domestic numbers in 2021 if it wants to scrape by.
