Medical staff could be under-reporting the number of patients needing alcohol-related treatment
19 January 2021
An Australasian College for Emergency Medicine survey shows at two AM on December 21, 2019 -- 16 per cent of patients presenting to Emergency Departments were receiving alcohol related treatment.
President John Bonning thinks the rate is actually higher.
He says the data is collected manually and relies on medical staff ticking a box.
But Bonning says treatment's not always obviously alcohol-related.
