A fall from grace for Rotorua police officer Melissa-Mae Ruru and champion boxer, Tyson Sykes

A fall from grace for Rotorua police officer Melissa-Mae Ruru and champion boxer, Tyson Sykes

The pair have been sentenced in the Rotorua District Court today after being found guilty last year of defeating the course of justice by submitting false community work records.

Ruru has been sentenced to five months home detention and Sykes a reduced three, because of time already in custody and on electronic bail.

Judge Cooper told the jury last year there was nothing to suggest the pair had an intimate relationship.
