The Covid 19 pandemic has continued to put a major dent into how much we're importing into the country

Stats NZ figures show the value of imports in 2020 was almost 12-percent lower than in 2019.
Exports held steady during the same period.
As a result, the trade surplus is nearing record levels -- ending the year at 2.9 billion dollars.
