    Time to rethink Wellington's CBD ... as David Jones announces its exit


    The Australian retail giant has been operating in Lambton Quay since 2016, in the former home of Kirkcaldie and Stains.

    It's closing next year, shifting to a greater digital presence.

    Former Kirkcaldie and Stains managing director, John Milford, says the time's come to transform the Golden Mile at street level.

    He says that could mean bringing more offices down to the ground floor - or introducing more services to the area.
