The original host of Police Ten 7 is dismissing calls for the show to be cancelled

Auckland council member Efeso Collins wants the longstanding programme to be cut, as he believes it feeds racial stereotypes.

The councillor took offence to a recent ad that predominantly showed young Maori and Pacific people.

Former detective and host Graham Bell says he opposes any suggestion of racial profiling.

He says the police don't select who they're looking for -- the people who commit the crimes select themselves.

Bell says there's no racism or racial profiling.
