Batting first, the home side made 210 for three.
Conway top scored with an unbeaten 92, and Will Young made a handy 53 off 30 balls on debut - his maiden T20 international fifty.
Black Caps spinner Ish Sodhi was the best of the bowlers, impressing with figures of four for 28.
The visitors finished 144 for eight.
Conway told Spark Sport he stuck to his plan of watching the ball and playing the ball on its merit.
New Zealand lead the three match T20 series 1-nil.
