The rate of burnout among Southern senior doctors and dentists is soaring

A new report by the Association for Salaried Medical Specialists shows the rate of burnout has climbed 20 percent at the Southern DHB over the past five years.
The national average runs at just two percent.
Respondents complained of crushing workloads, inadequate facilities and a growing wedge between management and staff.
Southern DHB is the highest hitter for burnout stats -- with more than 60 percent of those surveyed saying they're at breaking point.
