A struggling South Island district will be jumping to tap into the latest tourism support

A struggling South Island district will be jumping to tap into the latest tourism support

Tourism minister Stuart Nash is pulling cash from the Tourism Infrastructure Fund - for the first time since November 2019.

The pool sits at about 13 million dollars - and requests from pandemic-struck areas such as Kaikoura and Mt Cook will be prioritised.

Mackenzie District mayor Graham Smith says his council will be taking full advantage.

He says plenty of businesses in the area are still facing uncertain times.
