It's been a busy morning for emergency services in Auckland

One man is believed to have been arrested after a reported shooting at the Sofitel Hotel on the Viaduct.

A worker from a nearby business says he saw about eight armed police arrive in a van and enter the hotel just after 9am.

About five carloads of officers evacuated customers and staff from cafes either side of the building, before a handcuffed man was taken away.

Police are expected to provide an update later.
