Members of the Thornbury Vintage Tractor and Implement Club are setting off an a twelve hundred kilometre tractor trek today from Invercargill to Christchurch and back.
The journey - which is expected to take up to 44 hours - is raising funds for the Southland Charity Hospital.
Club president Fraser Pearce says eight drivers will take it in turns to drive the yellow 1983 Massey Ferguson tractor.
He says they could have driven to Christchurch from Invercargill in 20 hours - but they figured they needed to allow time to talk to people along the way.
The tractor leaves Invercargill at 11am.
